Royal

Royal is another one of the older vacuum cleaner brands. The P.A. Geier company made the first Royal vacuums in 1905, and started in Cleveland, Ohio. The company has also made other appliances, but vacuums have always been their main product.

Eventually, in 1953, Royal was bought by the Walter E. Schott Organization, who renamed the company to Royal Appliance Manufacturing. The new investment group dissolved the company shortly after. This led to the company being purchased by a group of employees in 1954, led by a man named Stan Erbor.

The company thrived until 1981, when Stan died at the age of 80. A group of investors bought the company, infused a new strategy, and grew the company over the next two and a half decades.

In 2007, Royal was purchased by Techtronic Industries, who also own some other major floor cleaning brands.
